Jess, Milton Keynes

On the 28th April 2015 my nephew Darren John Payne (‘DJ’) was stillborn at full term, which came as a complete shock to all of our family as my sister had no problems at all throughout her pregnancy.

Sands helped my sister enormously including giving her a memory box to treasure and they had also trained the staff at the hospital so they encouraged her to have photos taken with my nephew and hand/footprints made when she would not have thought to do this by herself.

The London Marathon is on his 4th birthday and I am running for Sands to raise money in his memory as his birthday gift this year.

Marathon training takes it’s toll on the body and I’ve overcome a number of injuries with the help of a fantastic physio who is probably sick to death of listening to me going on about my training by now! 😊 Going out in all weathers for long runs has also been challenging, particularly during the recent windy storm we had in the UK! I’ve also discovered that I hate hills with a passion…. 😊

I am so excited to be a part of the day, I can’t wait to experience the atmosphere and to know that I’m taking part for a reason that’s really important to me.

I'm hoping to raise in excess of £5,000 and complete the race in under 5 hours 15 minutes.
