Jim and Sheila Muirhead just couldn’t wait for the birth of their first child.  But, when Jim got to the wards, he was told by a member of staff that daughter Mary-Anne had died five hours after being born. Mary-Anne should be celebrating her 50th birthday next year and the passing of five decades has done nothing to lessen the grief and pain of her parents. 

For many years the couple didn’t know where their daughter was buried.  Sheila said: “We didn’t want these babies [in the cemetery]  to ever be forgotten so we got in touch with Dumfries and Galloway Sands and they’ve been wonderful.” Continue reading
