It is crucial to reflect on the impact of our work, on whether we are achieving our ambition to reduce the number of babies dying, and to provide the best possible care and support for anyone affected by the death of a baby. This impact report allows us to look back over the last 12 months, one year into our 2017/2020 strategy, and see how much has been achieved towards these goals.



This year is particularly significant as we are commemorating our 40th anniversary. We have come a long way since two bereaved mothers, Bel Mooney and Hazelanne Lewis, founded Sands in 1978.

Thanks to all of those who have been involved over the years, Sands has grown and flourished and we are now providing more support than ever before.



We are always looking to the future and want to continue to be the voice of bereaved parents, ensuring that anyone affected by the death of a baby receives the help and support they need, whenever they need it.
