We were delighted to meet Nexus Vehicle Rental’s chief executive David Brennan at our offices in London last week to celebrate the success of our charity of the year partnership.
Staff at Nexus, the UK’s leading tech-driven business mobility provider, unanimously voted to support Sands as a senior manager’s baby sadly died.
Colleagues at the company in Leeds took part in a variety of events including raffles, a five-a-side football tournament and cake bake which raised an amazing £12,000.
The biggest single event that Nexus’ junior staff took part in was a skydive and their huge efforts raised a significant £3,000 towards their fundraising target.
The main fundraising highlight was a ‘breakout for babies’ challenge that saw the Nexus senior management team locked in a room for an hour with a phone and a laptop. They were set a challenge to raise as much money as they could in the hour timeslot before being ‘released’!
David Brennan, CEO at Nexus Vehicle Rental, said: “I have been immensely proud to see our team working so hard over the last 12 months and they have really pulled together to hit our £12,000 target before the year is up. It has been great to see colleagues take on so many creative and inspirational activities, from our own take on the British Bake Off to jumping out of planes!
“Sands supports so many people who are affected by such sad circumstances, so we are really pleased that our donations go to help the many Sands volunteers and staff in supporting more families in need around the UK.
“I’ve been blown away by the generosity and enthusiasm everyone connected with the business has shown in a bid to meet our target and I thank everyone who has supported the cause.”
The funds Nexus have raised will help Sands to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, improve bereavement care and fund research to save babies’ lives.
Daniel Brett-Schneider, Director of Income & Engagement at Sands, said: “It was a real pleasure to meet David when he visited our offices and to hear about some of the amazing challenges he and his colleagues have undertaken to raise vital funds for us.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone at Nexus for their support in raising awareness of baby loss and we hope to work in partnership with the company again in the future.”
