During our #AlwaysThere campaign we are sharing the experiences of parents who have benefitted from having the same maternity team to care for them when they were pregnant after loss, or who didn't but think it would have made a difference.
When Dawn's baby daughter died suddenly at 36 weeks gestation in 2013, she was being cared for by the same midwife through Continuity of Carer.
Her faith in me and my birth plan meant that while I now was unable to have the home birth I wished for I did give birth in the way in which I wanted to. I felt in control of my part of the birth at all times. Something which I am sure was invaluable to my recovery.
- Dawn, bereaved mother
When Dawn became pregnant again she received support from the same midwife and says this really helped with her anxiety. Her second daughter was born safe and well.
