Take on your own Gaming for Good challenge
Whether you’re taking on a 12 hours gaming marathon, trying to reach a certain level in a set time or committing to at least an hour gaming every day for a month, Sands can support you with your challenge.
Just follow these simple steps to get going:
1. Sign up and receive your free t-shirt pack
It takes just a couple of minutes to register by completing this short form, you will then be taken to set up your fundraiser via Facebook or Just Giving. We can then send you everything you need to get started! In your pack you will find your Gaming for Good t-shirt and a sponsor form should you wish to fundraise offline.
2. Check out our guides and resources to support your Gaming for Good.
We have several guides and videos talking you through elements of livestreaming, Facebook and donations trackers. These videos were filmed in 2022 and some ways of working on the platforms may have changed slightly but we hope they are still helpful in pointing you in the right direction. If you need further guidance we recommend a quick YouTube search as there are vloggers with vast knowledge who will be able to guide you through better than we can! On our resources page you will also find downloadable images and banners for you to use.
3. Game for Good!
And then it’s time to start! Set a date and a time when your challenge will begin, post on your fundraiser to let friends and family know, and then take on the challenge!
For gaming or streaming related questions you may be best to search YouTube for extra guides and tutorials. For fundraising related questions you can email our team any time at gaming@sands.org.uk.
FAQs
See our FAQs for any queries you might have about this challenge. Remember, you can always email us on gaming@sands.org.uk if you still need help.
How does the challenge work?
You are challenged to game in February to raise funds for Sands, so we can support families who've lost their baby. The challenge officially starts on 1st February.
Is there a registration fee?
Nope, this event is FREE for anyone to take part! However, everyday we support families who've lost their baby, so any money you can raise for Sands would really help us to reach more people who need our support.
My partner/family/colleagues want to join in too! How do they register? Can they have a separate fundraising page?
That's brilliant! You can send them this link to register for the challenge: https://givp.nl/register/SQlTCejv. They can absolutely have a separate fundraising page.
Thank you so much for your support! 🧡
What if I don't complete the challenge?
The only thing that matters is that you challenge yourself. However much you achieve, we're so grateful for your support and for raising much needed funds for Sands 🧡
Who can I speak to if I need more information?
If you have any questions or queries, please email gaming@sands.org.uk 🧡
Is there an age limit?
No. You can take part if you’re 10 or 110! But, if you’re under 16, you will need a parent or guardian to sign you up to the challenge. Please email gaming@sands.org.uk with permission from your parent or guardian.
Does my daily/weekly gaming count?
This is your challenge, and we encourage you to do it your way - some people will do it as part of their usual gaming and others might choose to add this in addition. The important thing is that you're doing something that challenges you. This will vary from person to person, so tailor the challenge however you like. It should be tough, but doable. You should feel satisfied when you finish it!
How do I raise money?
Online fundraisers are the easiest way to raise money. You can set up a Facebook Fundraiser or Just Giving page in a few seconds and then it's really easy to share the page with your friends, family and colleagues!
What is the fundraising target?
We only ask that you raise as much as you’re able. Facebook and Just Giving automatically sets the target on your page at £150, which could fund 7 memory boxes! Your more than welcome to adjust this target according to the challenge you'd like to set yourself!
Can I get an extra t-shirt?
Unfortunately, we have a very limited stock of t-shirts and will only be able to supply one t-shirt per registered fundraiser. You can purchase additional t-shirts on the Sands shop.
