Sands Listening to Parents
Listening activities Sands has undertaken
We reflect the experiences parents tell us about in our work to reduce baby deaths. Personal stories are powerful in changing attitudes and parents are at the heart of everything we do.
Surveys and reports
Experiences of bereaved parents from South Asian and black communities
This report details the findings of a project that explored the experiences of bereaved parents from South Asian and black communities to gain insight into their maternity and neonatal care.
In their own words: Parents' experiences of review
The Perinatal Mortality Review Tool (PMRT), which is used for local hospital review in the UK, has a pathway and resources to support communication with parents. This survey investigated whether these resources are working by hearing about parents’ experiences of reviews.
Survey of bereaved families from Black and South Asian communities
In the summer of 2021, Sands surveyed bereaved parents and family members from Black and South Asian communities to find out about their experiences of bereavement care and support.
Survey of maternity and neonatal care
In the spring of 2019, Sands canvassed the views and experiences of parents to find out about their experiences of care maternity and neonatal settings.
Listening to Parents Report
This is the first national survey of bereaved parents’ views on their care. The survey was undertaken with the support of Sands and the baby charity Bliss.
