Leeds Sands & York Sands, along with Harrogate Borough Council, will be hosting their 4th Service of Gentle Remembrance for parents, family and friends of those whose baby has died.
The afternoon of poetry readings, music and refreshments, with time to reflect at the Sands memorial, will be hosted at Harrogate Stonefall Cemetery Chapel, Wetherby Road, Harrogate, HG1 3DE on Saturday 21st November from 2pm - 4pm.
Those attending this service will be able to write a message for their babies to hang on the memory tree.
Sheryl McMahon, Sands’ North West Network Coordinator, Chair of Leeds Sands and one of the organisers of the event, says:
“Everyone is welcome to attend this service. We hope that it provides bereaved families with a time of peace and reflection and an opportunity to celebrate the lives, however short, of those no longer with us.”
Sadly thousands of babies die each year in the UK. In 2013, over 100 babies every week were stillborn or died soon after birth, shattering the lives of expectant parents, their families and friends, and the people who have cared for them.
For further details or if you are unable to come along but would like a tag on the memory tree, please email details to info@leeds-sands.org.uk.
