Each year, more than 3,000 babies are stillborn in the UK, one of the worst rates in the developed world. Doctors have now called for better autopsy techniques to detect a cause of death and help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
Professor Neil Sebire, of London's Great Ormond Street Hospital, said: "The problem is using current methods, even including full autopsy, we are still often not able to find out why the baby has died.
