Taking place 9-15 October every year, Baby Loss Awareness Week aims to raise awareness about pregnancy and baby loss in the UK.
Throughout the week, bereaved parents, and their families and friends, to unite with others across the world to commemorate the lives of babies who died during pregnancy, at or soon after birth and in infancy.
Led by Sands, the Baby Loss Awareness Alliance is a collaboration of more than 90 charities working together to break the taboo and to drive tangible improvements in policy, bereavement care and support for anyone affected by the death of a baby.
This year we are delighted that Natwest Group are proudly supporting #BLAW2020 in partnership with Sands and hosting a series of live panel discussions during the Week.

Pregnancy and baby loss is often a taboo subject. Help us break the silence around baby loss by talking to your friends, family and colleagues about Baby Loss Awareness Week, wearing a ribbon pin, finding landmarks to turn pink and blue and joining the global #WaveOfLight on 15th October. You can also show your support by changing your social media covers or adding a Twibbon to your profile. Remember to use #BLAW2020 and #YouAreNotAlone in all your posts about the Week! Let's make 2020 the best year yet!

- Turn your social media Pink & Blue - to make this super easy we have created a suite of images for you to use to help turn social media Pink and Blue. Choose from a range of profile images and banners for Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, whether you are supporting as an individual or an organisation.
- Turn UK Pink & Bue - approach buildings and landmarks in your region to light up in pink and blue. See these useful resources to get you started.
- Contact your local media using template press releases for a Ribbon Remembrance Event or a local building that you have helped turn pink and blue!
Put up the Baby Loss Awareness Week posters and leaflets in your local community, shop windows or at any events you are organising or attending.

Join the global Wave of Light
Baby Loss Awareness Week culminates with the global Wave of Light on 15th October, which is also recognised as International Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day.
Join the global Wave Of Light at 7pm local time on 15 October. Simply light a candle and leave it burning for at least 1 hour to remember all babies who have died too soon.

Together with you, our amazing alliance charities and partners, we were able to raise more awareness than ever before, helping to instigate real change through Government with our Out Of Sight, Out of Mind report. Our incredible ambassadors shared their experiences encouraging our dedicated supporters to speak out and break the silence around baby loss. The Wave of Light was bigger and brighter this year, with even more parents and families taking part in remembrance events, commemorative activity and the #BLAW2019 Mosaic.

Support the "Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind" campaign
Last Baby Loss Awareness Week we called on Governments across the UK to take action to ensure that all parents who experience pregnancy or baby loss and need specialist psychological support can access it, at a time and place that is right for them, free of charge, wherever they live.
Thousands of parents experience pregnancy or baby loss every year, many will go on to experience psychiatric illness that requires specialist support, triggered by intense grief and the trauma of their experience.
Our research shows that too often this support is unavailable, inaccessible or inappropriate. Bereaved parents are falling through the gaps between policy and funding, regularly overlooked altogether.
