Remembering our beloved babies and connecting with the Sands community.

Each year Sands hosts a service of remembrance for all babies, helping families and individuals to find hope. Last year, we added to the event to make it a full day to bring our Sands community together and to involve all our supporters in the vital work we do and share more about the impact your support has.

Save the Date!

Our 2024 event will take place at the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas, Staffordshire on Saturday 22 June.

Further details about the day and how you can attend will be shared soon.

Garden Day 2023

The day featured our usual Garden Day service of remembrance in the afternoon, and in the morning, we heard from Sands Chief Executive, Clea Harmer, about everything that we have achieved in this last year, as well as from our inspiring Ambassador and bereaved mum, Genelle Aldred. We also got the chance to celebrate the wonderful work of some of our amazing volunteers at our Volunteer Awards presentation, and to launch our Elaine Thorp Award for Bereavement Care for healthcare professionals who have provided excellent bereavement care.

Throughout the day there were also various remembrance opportunities, stands, information stalls and family-friendly activities, where you could speak to us and find out more about Sands’ work.

We have put together a lovely round-up of the day for you to watch in your own time. This is a really uplifting film, but we understand it may also be emotional to view so please take your time and remember that we are always here for you if you need us.

If you are not able to attend Sands Garden Day, you could contact your local Sands Group to reach out for support. Please see the map below to find your local memorial garden, many of them created by Sands, where you could spend some quiet time to remember your baby.
