Sands exists to save babies’ lives and ensure that anyone affected by pregnancy loss or baby death receives the support and care they need.
Sands seeks strong and sustainable governance provided by an excellent Board with the right experience, skills, knowledge and expertise. The Board needs to be made up of a diverse group of people who:
- Care deeply about Sands and the work it does
- Are committed to the core aims and values of Sands
- Are representative of all those affected by pregnancy loss and baby death
- Bring different views and perspectives
- Bring specific skills, knowledge and expertise to inform their work
- Are willing to give the time and commitment required to make thoughtful and informed decisions
To ensure that these criteria are met, Sands is setting up a Nominations Committee. The purpose of the Committee is to assist the Board in identifying suitable individuals to act as Trustees of Sands. The Committee acts in an advisory capacity by making recommendations to the Board, but does not appoint the Trustees itself.
