Our Eternal Love
Our tears ran through your hair
Washing over soft, still warm skin.
Each precious moment with you in our arms
To be held in our hearts for a lifetime.
How were we so strong,
When the time came to let you go?
And why does the strength fail us now
In the dark when we ache to hold you?
We long to care for you now,
But what can those left behind you do?
Only memories and tributes left,
Unworthy of the perfection of you.
If the world sang out your name
Until the planet collides with the moon
We would ask nature to play it again
To repay what it took from us too soon.
For you are worth the sun
Our baby now cradled by the stars
Beyond our each while we still live
But forever held in our hearts.
Diana and Andrew
For Anna, the beautiful baby we first met and had to let go of in May 2002.
Diana adds:
We have since been blessed with a second daughter, Eve. Holding her in my arms is a huge comfort but also made me realise what Anna and we missed out on. It is wonderful though to be able to actively parent our second little girl, in contrast to all the love and care we wanted to pour out to Anna, that could only stay in our hearts and minds and could only for a few brief hours be put into practice.
I look at Eve and feel very lucky. We will tell her about her special sister when she is older, and feel she has a guardian angel to help her through life.
