Sands is delighted to announce the winners of the Scottish Bereavement Care Awards.
Following the launch of the Awards at the 2015 Stillbirth and Bereavement Care conference in Edinburgh in June, the adjudicating panel of Mary Ross-Davie from NES, Emma Currer from RCM Scotland and Sands’ Improving Bereavement Care Manager Cheryl Titherly have awarded £5000 each to health boards in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Shetland, and Borders.
The three winning bids are from areas with a range of challenges including rurality, isolation and a high risk population. The bids awarded were also from three different sized units, each wanting to address different gaps in care identified by the applicants.
Each of these awards will improve the bereavement care offered by the winning units in Scotland. Importantly, each award demonstrated how the funding will impact on long term provision of care, and be incorporated once the award year has concluded.
The projects are due to provide a six month review in April, which we look forward to receiving.
