Sands was delighted to welcome corporate partners The Fertility Partnership (TFP) to its head office last week, to say a big thank you to the organisation for raising an amazing £52,217 for the charity and to outline how it plans to invest the funds raised.

Sands’ Chief Executive Clea Harmer greeted Andrew Came, Group Chief Executive Officer at TFP, Natalie Forkin, Chief Marketing Officer and Krystyna Joyce, Group Brand Manager.

TFP staff chose Sands as their charity partner from September 2017 to April 2019 and donated £5 for every fresh IVF cycle over the two years.

Additionally, TFP staff have fundraised through events at their clinics including the Bournemouth Half Marathon, Belfast Marathon, Christmas jumper days, bake sales and staff collections which have all contributed towards their fundraising.

The Fertility Partnership is Northern Europe’s leading group of fertility clinics specialising in IVF with some of the highest success rates in Europe. The group is also one of the largest providers of IVF in the UK where nine of their clinics are based.

Andrew Came, Group Chief Executive Officer at The Fertility Partnership, said: “We feel privileged to have been in a position to help such a worthwhile charity like Sands, and I have been so proud of our staff raising money in such a variety of ways.

"As a fertility company, we are passionate about babies from the moment of conception, including those who never get to look into the eyes of their parents or are lost to them soon after.”

The generous funds donated by TFP will be used to help Sands to support bereaved parents and their families affected by baby loss and to ensure the charity can continue to fund vital research projects to help save babies’ lives.

Clea Harmer, Chief Executive at Sands, said: “We would like to say a big thank you to everyone at The Fertility Partnership who chose Sands as their charity, and who have helped to raise this incredible sum that will make a huge difference to the services we provide.

“We will be able to ensure that we can continue to fund vital research into the reasons why babies do die and continue to support anyone affected by the devastation of baby loss.”

Sadly, the death of a baby is not a rare tragedy as 15 babies die before, during or soon after birth every day in the UK.
