Anesa's Story - "My princess I held but couldn't bring home" Anesa's princess Medina was her fourth child. When she felt movements she had never encountered before, her heart and gut did not sit well with what she was feeling. During a scan, when the doctor said, "there is no heartbeat I'm sorry" Anesa's world came crashing down as her heart screamed in pain. When Medina was born on 2nd June she was everything Anesa expected yet more, just fast asleep in her mother’s arms. Read this story
Niamh's Story Niamh shares how after her brother Jordan's son Jacob was stillborn in 2015, she didn't say his name because she found it difficult to know what to say and was worried she'd upset Jordan, but together, over the years she and the rest of Jordan's family have learnt to talk openly about Jacob and celebrate him. She also shares how Sands supported Jordan during one of the darkest periods of his life and how knowing he had specialist support from people who truly understood baby loss meant a lot. Now Niamh is running the London Marathon to give back to Sands, to raise awareness and to shine a light on the wider impact of baby loss, including on the family and friends who support someone.
