Sands is delighted to welcome on board Mothership Writers.
The creative writing programme especially for new mothers was founded by novelist Emylia Hall in 2019. Through inspiring, relaxed, and supportive Zoom sessions, new mums explore their experience of motherhood, find confidence in the power of their own voice, and learn the fundamentals of creative writing. Emylia has now run over 100 Mothership Writers workshops.
Mothership Writers is supporting Sands through their most recent project ‘Born in Lockdown’, which captures the experiences of 277 mothers who gave birth in 2020 as they come together to share their stories.
“We’re extremely grateful to everyone at Mothership Writers involved in this wonderful project. The shared experiences and coming together of community during this time of uncertainty and isolation is heartfelt. Our partners play a crucial role in the work that we do to raise awareness of our cause, our life changing work would simply not be possible without their dedication and support. Welcome to the team Mothership Writers.”
Daniel Brett-Schneider, Director of Income and Engagement at Sands
Emylia Hall, Author and Founder of Mothership Writers said 'Through my Mothership Writers workshops, I've seen just how nourishing and cathartic writing can be. The pandemic has changed so much about the new motherhood experience, intensifying what is already a challenging and often uncertain time. The Born in Lockdown project was all about encouraging new mums to establish a daily writing practice through the second UK lockdown. While Born in Lockdown is free for anyone to download, we're very happy to be supporting Sands with our project. It's a charity very close to the heart of one of contributors, and we hope to be able to raise as much money as possible for Sands' important work.”
The e-book can be downloaded at www.mothershipwriters.com/borninlockdown and Mothership Writers will be collecting donations in support of Sands. If you would like to donate then visit https://sands.enthuse.com/pf/borninlockdown.
