We are delighted to announce that Sands’ Bereavement in the Workplace training has achieved the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accreditation.

Creating a compassionate and supportive workplace is vital. When a workplace encourages and supports bereaved colleagues, their mental and physical wellbeing is improved, and they can thrive and remain productive as they grieve.

At Sands, we understand being at work following pregnancy or baby loss can be difficult for bereaved parents, which is why it’s so important that workplaces are compassionate, flexible and prepared to support affected staff in a way that is right for them.

We also understand that it can be difficult for colleagues and managers who worry about saying the wrong thing. We are here to support you, whether you have experienced pregnancy or baby loss, or are a colleague or employer wanting to provide support to someone returning to work.

A Sands’ poll found that 57% of bereaved parents felt relieved to have the opportunity to talk about their loss.

Our training helps managers and colleagues understand pregnancy and baby loss, find the words to support bereaved staff and navigate employment law. We have various tools available including live training and a digital learning hub which includes eLearning, films, guidance and template policies. These resources feature the experiences of bereaved parents going back to work, and the insight of HR professionals to help businesses build a supportive workplace environment.

However, given the nature of the training subject, it’s only natural to feel anxious about what might be covered in the training course. Having this well-recognised, external verification from the CPD Certification Service means that our training has been evaluated and assessed against the highest standards and benchmarks. It demonstrates that the content is delivered in a gentle and sensitive way which conforms to CPD guidelines.

"This is a short but comprehensive course which should meet its stated learning objectives. It is well-structured and clearly presented. The trainer notes should help ensure it is presented consistently, and there are several opportunities for learner interactivity. The additional resources provided provide excellent reinforcement of key learning points. Here, a difficult topic is clearly tackled sensitively and effectively by experts."

Feedback from the CPD

Completing our Bereavement in the Workplace training will earn professionals two points (or two hours depending on how it is being recorded) towards their professional learning and development. The course is delivered simply through a tailored blend of live webinars, online learning modules and digital toolkits which is relevant to each organisation and their culture.

Listen to what some of our past participants have to say about our Bereavement in the Workplace training.

”For me, this training is a ‘must have’ within an organisation. A lot of companies are putting time and money behind mental health training, and this should be considered alongside as both really sit hand in hand. For us being prepared is so important not just for managers, but also for peers.”
