Walk with Us
Together we can support the NHS staff step by step.
In a time where many of us feel isolated and are social distancing from loved ones, we want to bring people together though Walk with Us. Help us to ensure we support all staff working in hospitals during this difficult time by equipping them with the confidence and skills to care for families when the worst happens. Everyday these staff are walking the corridors and wards of the hospitals, walking into waiting rooms worrying that they won’t know what to say, walking into their homes struggling to cope.
Please Walk with Us so we can support them and be there every step when they need us!
The Step it Up Challenge
In the current situation we aren't able to venture far so let the tallest peaks in the UK come to you. Take on the mountains and climb one or all of the four peaks in your own home and help raise funds for Sands. Its time to Step it Up.
Scotland Ben Nevis – Take the Pony Track and walk 10.5 miles. The ascent is 1352 metres.
England Scaffell Pyke – Take the Wasdale Head route and walk six miles. The ascent is 989 metres.
Wales Snowdon Take the Pyg track and walk 7 miles. The ascent is 723 meters.
Northern Ireland Slieve Donard -Take the route via Glen River and walk 5.5 miles. The ascent is 850 meters.
Walk and Talk
Organise a Walk and Talk with loved ones this June. Your loved ones might be with you on your walk, on the phone, or in your heart. Take the opportunity to break the silence around baby loss through a Walk and Talk. We know walking and talking can be easier than face to face conversations sometimes so take this chance whilst supporting Sands.
Your Walk and Talk event can be done any way you like. It can be Walk a Mile in My Shoes event, a Family 5k or even a 10k Talk. Select your route and ask for supporters to sponsor you.
Do Your Own Thing
Choose your own walking challenge. Whether it is a walk of remembrance, 10,000 steps every day or even a Walk with Us event in fancy dress. You choose the path you wish to take to support Sands this June and raise awareness of our work and how we are supporting the staff of the NHS step by step.
Next Steps
Once you have chosen your challenge, sign up.
