How do I sign up?
Sign up to the challenge by registering for your fundraising pack here
How do I set up a fundraising page?
If you set up a Facebook Fundraiser, please do change the end date on this so that your page doesn't close before your challenge begins.
- Go to your fundraising page
- Click “Edit” under the main image and headline
- Scroll down to the box that says “Set the End Date”
- Select the date – choose 5 days after your ride to allow people to donate when congratulating you
- Then click Save in the top right.
Can I raise funds offline?
Absolutely. You can collect sponsorship in any way you like. If you’d like a sponsorship form, then you can download one here.
Is there an entry fee?
There is no entry fee for this challenge. We do however ask you to fundraise as part of your challenge - partly to cover the cost of your pack. Should you wish to receive a pack with a t-shirt, we ask you to pledge to raise £50. To receive a bespoke Sands cycling jersey, we ask you to pledge to raise £150. Facebook Fundraisers are the easiest way to raise money. You can set one up in a few seconds here. And then it’s really easy to share the page with your friends. Please do remember to change the end date on your Facebook page so that this doesn't close before your ride.
How do I track my progress?
Strava is a great app for keeping track of your challenge. Once you’re home, use the tracker in your pack to record how far you did.
You can join our Strava team here.
Can I start my challenge early or later?
Of course! Do feel free to adapt the challenge to suit you.
My family want to do the challenge with me. Can they have t-shirts?
If they're not fundraising as just taking on the challenge with you, we ask that you purchase t-shirts or jerseys from the Sands shop here.
Someone I know accidentally donated to my Facebook Fundraiser. Can you issue them a refund?
Unfortunately we can’t issue refunds - Facebook must do this. People can request a refund themselves from Facebook by following the below steps:
Send them this link: https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/162031714239823
Select — I donated to a fundraiser on Facebook
Select — I want a refund for my donation(s)
Select — I made a donation by accident. Find their donation in the dropdown and request the refund.
How do I pay in my fundraising?
If you’ve fundraised on Facebook or Justgiving, the money is automatically sent to Sands, so there's no need for you to do anything more!
If collected offline fundraising, the easiest way to pay this to Sands if by donating on our website. You can do this here. Then simply send us a photo or scan of your sponsorship form to email@example.com
Make sure to say that your money is for your Sands Great Cycle Challenge so that we can make sure it is added to your total.
If you’re not able to donate this way, then drop us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we can discuss other ways of getting the donation to us.
