How sharing your story can help
We are as always so very grateful to the parents and families that have shared their stories with us and know that each will be valued by everyone reading them.
Sharing how you felt and how you managed in the days, weeks, months, and years following the death of your baby or babies, can often help lessen the feelings of isolation and loneliness of other parents and families.
Though each experience of loss is unique, we will often share common thoughts and emotions that will enable us to identify with some part of what someone else has written.
If you have been helped by Sands, please do include this in your story. We love to hear how our work has made a difference to bereaved families, and this will also help us to encourage others to support our vital work through fundraising, donations, or giving their time to volunteer with Sands.
How we will use your story
We would love to be able to share your personal experience to help break the silence and to let others know they not alone. This could be on our website, on social media, and in our publications to help raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss.
After you’ve shared your story in the form below, please take a moment to carefully read the section about how your story could be used and tick the box to indicate that you have given your consent to Sands.
From time to time, we are approached by the media who wish to speak to people who have been affected by pregnancy and baby loss.
If you think this may be something you would like to do, now or in the future, please tick that box below and we will get in touch with you to discuss this further if an opportunity arises. We will always contact you first before passing on your name or story to the media.
Keeping in touch
It’s very important to us that you stay in control of your story, understanding how we store it and for how long, and how it may be used.
We always want you to be completely comfortable with how your personal data is gathered and used. We also follow all applicable fundraising and data protection legislation and guidelines. We will never share your contact details with anyone without your express permission.
If you ever decide that you no longer wish us to store or use your story on our channels please don't hesitate to get in touch by email at RealLifeStories@Sands.org.uk
Finally, we would also love to keep you updated about our work – if you haven’t already, please let us know how you’d like us to keep in touch with you.
