Bereaved mother Gemma Earnshaw I’Anson, is one of a group of local parents on a mission to provide support to fellow bereaved parents.

Working with Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, Gemma and other bereaved parents have recently launched the Scarborough & District Sands Group offering people who live locally, and who have been affected by the death of a baby, support.

The new Group hopes that parents and families from Scarborough, Whitby, Filey, Bridlington, Malton & the surrounding villages will find great benefit from the new support.

Gemma Earnshaw I’Anson, Chair of Scarborough & District Sands, said:

“Every person’s experience is different, a baby may have died long recently or some time ago, but we know how devastating the death of a baby can be, having gone through a loss ourselves.

“We officially launched about 4 months ago and things have been going well. We hope as a group to hold future support meetings and to fundraise to support our local hospitals and Sands to help promote research to reduce the loss of babies' lives.”
