British London 10k Run

Help us cheer on our amazing team of nearly 40 Sands runners as they take on the iconic route of the legendary British London 10k! We will have a Cheering point and our cameras at the ready next to Parliament Square (by the Winston Churchill statue), opposite Big Ben - and we hope that you might be able to join us by making a lot of noise and cheering with us! We will provide a free Sands t-shirt for all supporters – so get in touch and we’ll see you there!

The Big Fun Run Series

Fancy fundraising for Sands this summer but are more interesting in the spirit of taking part in an event rather than the race itself!? The 2016 Big Fun Runs sound perfect for you! With 17 fantastic runs staged within scenic parks throughout the UK from July - November, the Big Fun Runs offer a relaxed, family friendly atmosphere so you really can have fun taking part! Never ran a 5k before? Don’t worry! The Big Fun Run have a great and easy training plan available to get started! Plus under 5s can take part for free! Tough Mudder Series

Tough Mudder is a 10-12 mile mud and obstacle course designed to drag you out of your comfort zone by testing your physical strength, stamina, and mental grit. With no podiums, winners, or clocks to race against, it’s not about how fast you can cross the finish line. Rather, it’s a challenge that emphasizes teamwork, camaraderie, and accomplishing something almost as tough as you are. Ready for a challenge and want to sign up and take part as part of Team Sands?! London to Brighton Cycle

Calling all cyclists – we need you! The London to Brighton Cycle Ride (54 miles) is a fantastic fundraising challenge starting in London and traveling through Mitcham, Carshalton, Chipstead, Banstead, Haywards Heath before finishing on the Brighton sea front on 11th September, 2016. Over 2000 people are expected to take part and now this is your chance to join them! No previous experience is required however preparation for this event is highly recommended, and with a bit of training completing this event should easily be within your capabilities. Great Birmingham and Great South Run

Fancy doing an event in Autumn and starting your training this summer?! We currently have a limited number of places available in the Great Birmingham (half marathon) and South Run (10 miles) this October. Place will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Sands Summer Fundraising Incentives

Looking for fundraising inspiration this summer that doesn’t always involve putting on lycra!? Browse through our Top 10 bright ideas to help inspire your fundraising – and then contact a member of the fundraising team e:fundraising@uk-sands.org or t: 08456 652 0448 so that we can help support your fantastic fundraising!

1.    Cake Sale or Coffee Morning - Whether at home or in the office…All you need to do is bake or buy some yummy cakes and treats; brew a pot or two of tea or coffee, and either charge people to come to your event or sell your cakes to friends/family/colleagues or neighbors!

2.    Wimbledon Themed Event - With Wimbledon just around the corner why not organise your own tennis tournament and charge people to participate, hold a sweepstake for the contenders or arrange a scrummy strawberries and cream sale

3.    Aerobic-a-thon - Break out those sweatbands and get physical! Get sponsored for every 5 or 10 minutes of aerobics you can manage!

4.    Fill Smartie Tubes with Coins – Super easy and super fun to do! Simply pass smartie tubes out to your friends and family and ask them to fill them with spare change (preferably £1 coins)! Then collect them back in - you'll be amazed at how much you will raise this way! Also, you could empty the smarties into a jar and run a 'Guess the number' contest.

5.    Cricket Match – Organise two teams with the help of your friends/family/colleagues and ask them to pay a small amount to take part. Why not organise a collection for the spectators too!

6.    Swear Box  - Super simple and Sands can even supply the collection tin! Get your friends, family or colleagues to put 50p in the tin every time they swear – you’ll be amazed how much you’ll raise!

7.    Garden Party or BBQ - Whip up some cucumber sandwiches or throw some burgers on the barbie; dust off the picnic tables and crack open some Pimms! Charge a small entrance fee and organise a collection during the fundraising event.

8.    Sponsored Jog-athon – Arrange a sponsored joga-thon and get sponsored to every mile/kilometer you complete! You could even do it on a treadmill!

9.    Knobbly Knee Contest – Hold a famous knobbly knee contest and charge people £1 to enter the competition. You get the fun of being the judge too! Don’t forget to send us photos after the event!

10.    Nearly New Sale – Get your friends/family/colleagues to donate their nearly-new items and then hold a nearly new sale with the proceeds going to Sands!
