We’re delighted that Sands Ambassador and Actor Rakhee Thakrar has been shortlisted for Best Serial Drama Performance at the National Television Awards for her portrayal of a stillbirth on BBC 1 soap EastEnders in 2015.

Sands was first introduced to Rakhee ahead of the tragic storyline, broadcast in August 2015, that saw Shabnam Masood’s’ baby son Zaair stillborn, and supported her with her research for this role. Over several months she gained an insight into what bereaved families go through when their baby dies and the devastating impact it has on their lives. It was this experience that inspired her to become an Ambassador for Sands.
