Sands has won the Charity of the Year Award at the 2025 GLOMAMA Awards. Whilst, Baby Loss Awareness Week has won Campaign of the Year for the second year in a row.
Sands volunteer befriender and campaigner, Rachel Burrell, received Sands’ award at a ceremony in London on 15 March.
“I was incredibly pleased to collect the award on behalf of Sands. As an active campaigner and volunteer for the charity, I understand too well the stigma attached to talking about and raising awareness about baby loss. I’m so proud for the work we’re doing and will continue to do for all bereaved families.”

GLOMAMA aims to connect mums from all walks of life and showcase their stories. Shining a light on the difference these women are making and recognising their positive impact on the world.
“We are honoured that Sands has received this award and proud that Rachel could accept it on behalf of the whole Sands community.
“Together we are making a difference. Together we are there for more people than ever before who are touched by pregnancy and baby loss, so they can get the support they need. And through our work around training and research, and calling for policy changes, we’re saving babies’ lives.
“We can only do all this when we work collaboratively, across communities and with professionals and supporters. This award celebrates that community, because that’s what makes Sands the charity it is. Thank you GLOMAMA.”

The award ceremony also saw Baby Loss Awareness Week win campaign of the year for the second year running.
Carolyn Bray was one of the co-founders of BLAW 23 years ago. Carolyn also works for Sands and has been a driving force behind the growth of the campaign.
“I am so very proud that Baby Loss Awareness Week has won the Campaign of the Year GLOMAMA Awards for the second year running. What makes this recognition even more meaningful is that it was voted for by the public. It demonstrates just how important the week is to so many.
“What began around our kitchen tables all those years ago was born from a simple but powerful desire to raise awareness of the impact of pregnancy and baby loss on individuals and families, to help people feel less alone, and to break the silence and stigma.
“Much has changed over the past two decades, with more people able to share their experiences. Yet, we remain committed to speaking out for those who aren’t yet ready, so they know we are here for them whenever they need us.
“Together, every 9-15 October we stand with millions across the world to remember and honour our much-loved and missed babies.”
