Each year, more than 3,000 babies are stillborn in the UK, one of the worst rates in the developed world.  Doctors have now called for better autopsy techniques to detect a cause of death and help prevent similar tragedies in the future.

Professor Neil Sebire, of London's Great Ormond Street Hospital, said: "The problem is using current methods, even including full autopsy, we are still often not able to find out why the baby has died. "It is therefore vitally important we advance better ways of properly investigating these cases by developing new, more refined techniques.
