This September can you Run 30k for Sands?

Various supporters out running in winter

Will you challenge yourself to run 30k over the month of September?

Sands want to ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of time.  We want to campaign for change and support research so that fewer babies die and fewer families experience the pain of losing a baby. Please step forward.

Whether you run, walk, dance or climb, be part of the team taking on #Run30kForSands

FAQ's

How do I sign up?

Register to sign up to the challenge.

You can register for your t-shirt, set up your fundraiser, get tips, be inspired and find out anything you want to know about the challenge!

Why have some people started the challenge already?

Some people are training for the challenge now and sharing their runs with the group, but most people are staring the challenge on 1st September!

Can I do a shorter/longer/earlier/later challenge?

Yes! Every run you do will help Sands. So do this challenge in whatever way works best for you. Every run is very much appreciated!

Is there an entry fee?

There is no entry fee for this challenge but we do however ask you to fundraise as part of your challenge. Creating a Fundraiser is the easiest way to raise money. You can set one up in a few seconds. And then it’s really easy to share the page with your family and friends.

Is there a fundraising target?

We have no minimum or maximum amount that we would like you to raise. From our point of view, no matter how much money you raise, it will go towards supporting bereaved families across the UK.

All those that raise £150 or more with receive an EXCLUSIVE limited edition Sands reward. ✨. And if you don’t quite make the target, then our limited edition rewards will also be available to buy online.

Can I just raise money offline with a sponsorship form?

Absolutely. You can collect sponsorship in any way you like. We simply recommend creating a Fundraiser for this challenge as they’re easy and hassle-free, but you can download a sponsorship form, if you prefer.

Once your fundraising is completed, please add your donations via our website and email a screenshot of your sponsorship form to run@sands.org.uk.

My family want to do the challenge with me. Can they have t-shirt?

No problem! Simply ask them to fill out the registration form and we will send them a pack.

If they're not fundraising, you can buy additional t-shirts.

How do I keep track of how many Kms I've done?

The Health app on iPhone or Google Fit app on Android both keep track of how many Kms you do each day. There’s other apps available so do pick whichever works best for you.

If you have a pedometer, sports watch, Apple Watch or FitBit, these can usually keep track of your Kms too.

Once you're done for the day, mark off your Kms on your paper tracker, which you can download.

Do I have to walk my Kms, or can I jog, run, climb or dance?

It’s up to you! We think most people will run the Kms, but if you want to complete them a different way, then go for it! Just be sure to post your progress and updates on your Fundraising page so friends and family can cheer you on and we can see how you’re doing too!

What if I don't complete the challenge?

The only thing that matters is that you challenge yourself. Do as much as you can. Every km helps.

When will my T-shirt arrive?

T-shirts will be posted in batches from the 12th August and throughout the rest of the month of August. It will take 10 working days for your T-shirt to arrive.

Can I use Strava?

Yes of course!

Yes of course and you can HERE.

When and where is the challenge taking place?

The walk is a 30k virtual running challenge throughout the month of September. You can break down the 30k over the 30 days in September. You can run locally or venture further afield and run alone or with family and friends.

I still haven't got my t-shirt yet, where is it?

Sorry you haven't received your t-shirt yet. You can email your details to run@sands.org.uk and we'll check this. Or, if you're not 100% sure you have given us your full address, you can send the correct address
