Sands is delighted to be funding an important new study looking into the cost of a stillbirth. Stillbirth has been mostly overlooked in recommendations for better maternity care.
One reason is that there’s no understanding of the cost of stillbirth to the family, the hospital and GP, and society in general. And if the cost is unknown, decision-makers can’t see the full picture and too often underestimate or even ignore the impact of stillbirth.
This new study, to be published in the second Lancet Stillbirth Series in 2015, will provide much-needed information about the economic impact of stillbirth.
