Any questions?

See our FAQs below or email us at RibbonRun@sands.org.uk

How much time do I need to be available for?

You will need to be available to volunteer for approximately 4 hours on Saturday 12 October to host your Ribbon Run. You will also need to be available for informal calls and emails in the lead up to the day. With Sands support, you will also give as much time as you can to promoting your Ribbon Run in the local area.

Where should I host my Ribbon Run?

It's entirely up to you! We recommend choosing a location you're familiar with. We recommend speaking to your local Park Run and hosting your event there. Park Run is a free community event where you can walk, jog or run 5km on a Saturday morning. They are held all over the country.

Make use of our route assessment and risk assessment templates that will be sent to you as part of your Digital Pack.

Does it have to be a run?

Ribbon Run participants are welcome to walk, run or jog. Please be mindful of this when planning your Ribbon Run.

How do I promote my Ribbon Run?

You will be sent some Ribbon Run posters which you can put out in your local community. Download a digital copy here.

Share the details of your Ribbon Run in local Facebook and online community groups. Speak to your local parkrun to find out if they would be willing to support your Ribbon Run or help you promote. These will be sent to you as part of your digital pack.

Make use of our Ribbon Run Press Release template to let local media know about your event. They may even send someone to attend on the day!

Do I have to fundraise as part of my Ribbon Run?

We ask everyone who signs up to consider fundraising. When your Ribbon Run webpage is set up you will have a personal fundraising page and then your local Ribbon Run you are organising will have a fundraising total which will be added to by all the people who sign up to join your Ribbon Run.

How do I edit my Ribbon Run Champion page?

Please email any edits you would like to make to your page to RibbonRun@Sands.org.uk and we can make those for you. Your page will go live in July and you'll be guided through the set up by our team.

How does someone join my Ribbon Run?

Direct them to your Ribbon Run Champion page where they can click the 'Join Us' button to sign up or connect their pre-existing page.

Does it matter how many people sign up to my Ribbon Run?

No – this is your Ribbon Run and you can make it as big or as small as you like. However, please note that your Ribbon Run will be visible to the public. If you would rather take part as a team, this is a different registration option. Please let us know as soon as possible if this is your preferred choice and we will remove your Ribbon Run from the online map.
