Sands Ribbon Displays for Baby Loss Awareness Week

Thank you to all our Ribbon Display hosts for Baby Loss Awareness Week 2024. During October there were a record number of Sands supporters putting in tremendous amounts of effort to raise awareness of pregnancy and baby death. 

We had over 205 Ribbon Displays organised by Sands supporters in 2024, each one raising awareness within local communities, helping to start conversations and providing bereaved families with the opportunity to remember and connect. 

Together we also raised funds which will help save babies' lives and support more bereaved families - Thank you! 

How do I organise a Display in 2025?

If you are thinking ahead to 2025: The size and design of the Display is really up to you, we love to see all the different variations up and down the country. From paper Displays in shop windows to ribbons hung from tress, there are so many ways to interpret a Sands Ribbon Display for Baby Loss Awareness Week. 

To help you with your Display, we will send you a pack including materials and resources to make your display a success.

Baby Loss Awareness Week

Baby Loss Awareness Week starts on 9th October and ends on the 15th October, with the global Wave of Light at 7pm (local time).

Support for you

Sands supports anyone who has been affected by pregnancy loss or the death of a baby before, during or shortly after birth. Bereavement support is at the core of everything we do. Some of the services that we offer include a free national helpline for parents, families, carers and healthcare professionals; a UK-wide network of support groups with trained befrienders; an online forum enabling bereaved families to connect with each other and a wide range of bereavement support resources available online and in print.

Wave of Light

Wave of Light is an opportunity to join with bereaved parents, families and friends around the globe to commemorate all babies who sadly died too soon. It takes place at 7pm on 15 October every year, the last day of Baby Loss Awareness Week.
