When my daughter was stillborn in 2005 there wasn't a local Sands support group, but I met some local mums through the Sands online forum.

One of them, Heatherjane, wanted to set up a local group so we met in person along with another bereaved mum Caroline, and from there Cardiff and Newport Sands was created.

Now 17 years later we still run the group and have supported hundreds of families during that time but have also become very good friends outside of our Sands volunteer work.
