On Sunday 8 September Tracey will be running the Great North Run as part of #TeamSands. We asked Tracey some questions about why she has decided to take on this challenge and what it means to her.

Why are you running the Great North Run for Sands this year?

On the 8th September last year I lost my Granddaughter Beatrice to Still birth at 25 weeks.  I found out the day before the event. I paid to run this year so that I could run in her memory with two friends Sandra and Mark Reeves.  My daughter Lauren and her partner Jamie choose Sands as the charity to raise money for.

Have you run anything like this before?

I run 5k Park Runs on Saturdays and also some 10k races.

What has been the best part of your training?

I enjoy taking part in events with friends its always supportive of each other.

Have you got any top tips from your fundraising so far? Or perhaps tell us about your most successful fundraiser you have done so far?

I haven’t held an event this year although the couple I am running with held a coffee morning which was very successful.

What are you most looking forward to?

Getting Beatrice’s name out there so that people know and remember who she is.

We're so grateful to all the support Tracey has given Sands this year. She has been an incredible fundraiser and we can't wait to cheer her on at Mile 4 along the Great North Run route!
