The day I found out I was pregnant is always going to be one to be remembered. It was 19th February and my mum had been over for the weekend. I was already 2 weeks late and because of major dizziness and nausea I kind of already had the feeling that I was. The first test came out negative just a few weeks previous but I'd been to the toilet so many times that day I just had to take the test again. Sure enough, there is was, clear as day. I was pregnant.

It was slow going until my 12 week scan but I was very happy seeing my baby on screen even if she didn't move until the very last minute.

Time soon sped up and my 16 week appointment showed a strong, healthy heartbeat. There was nothing to worry about. Or at least that's what it seemed at that point.

A week later I started to feel baby move and boy did she know when food was being given to her or when she was being talked about. She even had a good kick about at church one time.

Our 20 week scan then came along, we'd decided not to find out the gender of our baby. On the scan she looked great though, still going strong but while waiting to see a midwife for blood tests we were informed that I had a low lying placenta so was scheduled another scan for the following week. That scan again showed things were fine apart from the fact that her head circumference was slightly smaller that what it should be at that point. Another scan was scheduled for 4 weeks later but little did I know then that she wouldn't survive that long.

The Sunday after the scan I rang the midwives with reduce movements but I was told that most first time mums haven't felt baby move by this point and that I should relax and find that her movements should go back to normal. I found that her movements did go back to normal the next day and she practically kicked me to sleep on the Wednesday night.

On the Thursday there wasn't much movement until tea time that evening and a big kick at 7.30pm.

The following morning I woke up at around 9am and asked for breakfast. I wanted to try and get baby moving as I'd had nothing since the night before and slept through the night which was quite unusual. I'd gone half the day with nothing when I finally called the hospital and was seen 5 minutes after my arrival. The midwife thought it was her heart doppler that was working but after grabbing another one and still getting nothing I was put on a scan and the dreaded news came.

There was no heartbeat and my baby was no longer alive.

At the confirmation scan I asked for baby's gender to be revealed. A baby girl-lying on her stomach with her hand covering her bum.

Later on that night I was induced and the two long days of labour started early hours 16th June 2018.

I gave birth to my perfect little girl at 8.59pm 17th June 2018.

Everything changed that weekend but she will never be forgotten and will always be, baby Charlotte.
